HECATE
A unique collaboration between Studio Aristotelis Barakos and Aumorfia, the Hecate lighting collection unveils a captivating blend of modern elegance and ancient mysticism. A tabletop lamp, a floor lamp, and a pendant lamp are meticulously handcrafted from pieces of sumptuous leather, stitched along the edges to form a modern interpretation of a tripod with a radiant sphere suspended within.
Named after the revered ancient Greek goddess Hecate, this collection pays homage to her multifaceted nature. Worshipped as the protector of homes and crossroads, Hecate was also a goddess of the moon and the underworld, and she was often depicted as three maidens facing different directions.
Inspired by symmetrical geometric principles, the design of the Hecate collection is a visual and structural expression of equilibrium. Three curved pieces of leather circumscribe three circles and cradle an illuminated opaline sphere at their centre. The result is a mesmerising abstraction that evokes both the mystical symbolism of the three-faced goddess and the celestial dance of the moon.
The collection is designed by industrial designer Aristotelis Barakos and the founder of Aumorfia, leather designer Theano Ravazoula-Potamianou, and seamlessly blends their respective expertise. Each piece is handcrafted in Athens and references the esoteric symbolism of antiquity while celebrating contemporary aesthetics and an artisanal spirit. Hecate tabletop lamp, floor lamp and pendant lamp available in brown and black leather.
